Exploring Lawa Cave, Purbalingga

Once or twice a year, I went back to visit my hometown in Pemalang, Central Java. It’s a small town, but very close to my heart as I grew up there. As a traveling junkie, I just couldn’t keep being quiet at home. It was a sweet coincidence that some of my cousins who lived in another city so we could go together. We went on a day trip to explore this small cave which is located quite near from our town, called as Lawa Cave, Purbalingga.

We drove our car and dropped by this little park just outside of our town. Honestly, I kinda forgot the name of the park and the village lol. It’s a pine forest and quite nice to just sit around and have a nice chat with friends and family.

It took around 1.5 hours from our town to go to this cave. On the outside of the cave, there is this forest area where people hang around, eating snacks, having picnics, and so on. We walked around 400 meters before arrived at the entrance of the cave.

Lawa Cafe (or ‘Goa Lawa’) is located in Purbalingga, Central Java. It was believed that the cave has its own legend for the local people. When you visit this cave, you can choose to have a guide which will be able to explain you the history of this cave. They are local people and you may give a tip as a token of appreciation of their service. The cave itself wasn’t so big, but there are several smaller caves inside of it. Walking down a narrow path with slippery floors, you gotta be careful not to fall down.

It was always nice to go back to the sweet hometown and catch up with family!
